Apparently Circuit City is laying off some of its “higher paid” work force to hire new employees at lower wages. The positions of the people being laid off *are not being eliminated* – just the higher level paychecks are. The people who are being laid off may re-apply for their current job 10 weeks after their severance. If they are re-hired, it will be at the new, lower wage. Of course, thats if their job hasn’t already been filled.

Now, I dont know about you – but I don’t see this as being a fair and just business practice – even in the face of competition. You can all make your own choices, but after reading this story, I’m not shopping at Circuit City again.
