Obsessive-Compulsive Tendencies

Lately I’ve been trying to figure out what it is about some people who can actually work out as a hobby, in comparison to people like me, who would rather eat cookies. Some of the theories I’ve heard are:
- Habit. After 21 days of doing something consistently, its a habit. You just do it. Maybe working out is just a habit.
- Addiction. We know that working out can release endorphins. Maybe those chemicals are addictive for some people.
- Obsessive-Compulsiveness. This seems like the most reasonable excuse… that we each have a bit of OCD, and for some people, it is manifested in working out.

According to the person who came up with this theory, my OCD manifestation is in reading. Because the truth is, I’ll read just about anything I can get my hands on. Including text books, children’s books, milk cartons, cereal boxes, and instruction manuals.

I think that reading is a perfectly acceptable manifestation of OCD, but I’d like to expand mine to include working out. Any suggestions?

I’ve got a competition to win!

You should eat lots of food.
Aside from that, I think some folks also work out because they are ego-centric and want to be the best looking person on the block.

Then again this is coming from the Pillsbury DoughBoy. I must be jealous.

On the flip side, should we refer to people who never work out as ‘obese compulsive’?
