How Much Do We Really Need?

After all my delays, and much ado about all of that, the airline neglected to get my luggage to the airport at the same time they got me there. After my mini-breakdown in the lobby, the very nice hotel desk staff gave me a toothbrush, some toothpaste, and a comb. And 5 q-tips. I could have used some contact solution, but they were out.

But it made me think – for all the things we think we “need”, how much of it do we really?

It turns out, we need a lot less than we think we do.

This I write using my old fashioned pen and paper, because I’m surrounded by 4 electronic devices which are slowly running down because the chargers are packed in my missing luggage.

Update: After phone calls from the airline at 2 am and 4 am, my luggage arrives at about 715 am. Turns out, I like life a lot better with more ‘stuff’.
